U.S. Navy Fire Control Mate 3d Class Adolph Loebach

Date of Loss – December 7th, 1941

Date of Repatriation – December 19th, 2019

On July 2, 2019, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) identified the remains of Fire Controlman Third Class Adolph John Loebach, missing from World War II.

Fire Controlman Third Class Loebach, who joined the U.S. Navy from Illinois, served on the USS Oklahoma (BB-37) and was killed during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. His remains were recovered from the ship following the incident, but they could not be individually identified at the time, and FC3 Loebach was buried as an unknown at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. In 2015, modern forensic techniques prompted the reexamination and eventual identification of FC3 Loebach’s remains.

Fire Controlman Third Class Loebach is memorialized in the Courts of the Missing at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
